2K and Gearbox Software have officially announced *Borderlands 4*, the next main entry in the popular looter-shooter series. The game is set to launch in 2025 for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, during Take-Two Interactive’s Fiscal Year 2026. This will be the fourth main installment and the seventh overall in the *Borderlands* franchise, following 2019’s *Borderlands 3*. While details are still scarce, players will once again step into the role of a Vault Hunter on a mission to find secret treasure.

The announcement came with a teaser trailer at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event. Although the trailer didn’t reveal much, it set an exciting tone for the game and hinted at a brand-new planet. Players can expect explosive action as they search for alien treasure and battle enemies along the way.

Randy Pitchford, founder and president of Gearbox, expressed the team’s high ambitions for *Borderlands 4*. He mentioned that they are working hard to enhance everything fans love about *Borderlands* while also pushing the game in new and exciting directions.

Catharina Lavers Mallet, senior vice president and general manager of 2K Core Games, highlighted how beloved the *Borderlands* series is worldwide and expressed excitement about the continued collaboration with Gearbox to deliver an exceptional experience for both longtime fans and newcomers.

In addition to *Borderlands 4*, 2K also announced other major titles at Gamescom, including *Mafia: The Old Country* and *Sid Meier’s Civilization VII*, all slated for release next year. Take-Two Interactive is also preparing for the launch of *Grand Theft Auto 6* in 2025, making Fiscal Year 2026 a big one for the company with multiple high-profile releases.

*Borderlands 4* is now available to wishlist on all storefronts ahead of its release next year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
