Age of Empires is coming to smartphones later this year, offering a mobile version of the popular real-time strategy game. The game will be available globally for both Android and iOS users, with pre-registration already live. While it retains the familiar medieval war strategies from the PC series, the mobile edition introduces new, mobile-specific gameplay features.
Co-developed by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, and World’s Edge, part of Xbox Games Studios, Age of Empires Mobile is set to launch on October 17. A cinematic trailer has been released, although it does not feature any actual gameplay footage.
Players can now pre-register for Age of Empires Mobile through the App Store and Google Play. Additionally, fans can participate in on-site events at the Xbox booth and engage in activities at the Level Infinite booth during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, from August 21 to August 25.
The mobile version promises fresh gameplay designed specifically for smartphones, while still incorporating several medieval war strategies from the original series. Players will have access to multiple single-player modes based on the Age of Empires legacy. The game also offers an immersive battlefield experience with large-scale castle sieges and realistic weapons. As in the original games, players will manage multiple troops with real-time micro-control, bringing the classic Age of Empires feel to mobile devices.
