The PlayStation Portal, Sony’s game streaming device that allows users to access PS5 games remotely, is now available in India. PlayStation India announced the launch on Friday. Although the PlayStation Portal cannot run games locally, it enables users to stream PS5 games with high-quality controls over a Wi-Fi connection. It features an eight-inch LCD display and includes DualSense controller functions such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported games.

Priced at Rs. 18,999 in India, the PlayStation Portal will be available in a single white color. It can be purchased from Sony Centres, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit, and other participating retailers starting August 3.

The PlayStation Portal’s eight-inch LCD display has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate, allowing users to play PS4 and PS5 games from their console at up to 60fps in full HD resolution. The screen also features touch-sensitive zones on both sides.

The device offers DualSense wireless controller features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for compatible games. Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Sony’s proprietary PS Link feature, and Wi-Fi 5, though the device does not support Bluetooth.

While it cannot run games directly, the PlayStation Portal lets players stream games from their PS5 library via home Wi-Fi. This means users can continue playing their PS5 games on the handheld device even if someone else is using the TV connected to the console.

The PlayStation Portal uses Sony’s Remote Play feature, which requires the PS5 to be turned on or in rest mode, connected to the internet, and updated to the latest system software version.
