CD Projekt Red is currently developing the next installment in *The Witcher* franchise, which was confirmed in 2022. This new game, codenamed Polaris, will be the first in a new Witcher trilogy. Although specific details about the upcoming RPG are still under wraps, it has been reported that Geralt of Rivia will appear in *The Witcher 4*, though not as the main character. The iconic Witcher’s voice actor, Doug Cockle, recently shared that Geralt will not take center stage in the game.
In a recent interview, Cockle, who voiced Geralt in the first three *Witcher* games, mentioned that while Geralt will be part of *The Witcher 4*, the story won’t focus on him. He expressed excitement about discovering who the new protagonist will be, but didn’t offer further details.
Cockle, who has voiced Geralt in *The Witcher*, *The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings*, and *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt*, also noted that he hasn’t yet seen the script for the new game.
*The Witcher 4* was first announced by CD Projekt Red in March 2022, though the studio has not provided a release window. They have partnered with Epic Games to develop the game using Unreal Engine 5.
Later in 2022, CD Projekt Red revealed more about the future of the *Witcher* series, confirming a new trilogy starting with Polaris, a remake of the first *Witcher* game (codenamed Canis Majoris), and a multiplayer *Witcher* title called Sirius. The studio has not announced release dates for these projects. Additionally, CD Projekt Red confirmed it is also working on a sequel to *Cyberpunk 2077*.
