Santa Monica Studio, the developer behind *God of War*, is reportedly working on its next game, and it’s likely a new intellectual property (IP). While the studio, owned by Sony, has not officially announced its next project since the release of *God of War Ragnarök* in 2022, a LinkedIn profile of one of its staff members appears to have revealed some details.
According to a report from VGC (via ResetEra), the LinkedIn profile of Glauco Longhi, Character Supervisor at Santa Monica Studio, mentioned that the developer is working on a new IP. Longhi’s profile reportedly stated that he returned to Santa Monica Studio to oversee character development for this new project, expressing his excitement to be part of the team again. However, his current LinkedIn profile now only mentions an “unannounced project” without specifying that it’s a new IP.
Before returning to Santa Monica, Longhi had previously worked at Naughty Dog as a Senior Character Artist on *Uncharted 4* and later joined Santa Monica Studio, where he worked on *God of War* (2018) and *God of War Ragnarök*. After leaving for positions at Striking Distance Studios and Unknown Worlds Entertainment, he rejoined Santa Monica Studio in April 2023 to work on their latest unannounced project.
While Santa Monica Studio has not officially revealed its next game, Cory Barlog, the studio’s creative director, has hinted at multiple projects in development. Rumors suggest that the studio could be working on both a new *God of War* title and a new IP. In March, Barlog vaguely referred to an upcoming project in a social media post, saying that the “early stages” of the game were “coming together.”
After releasing *God of War Ragnarök* in 2022, the studio followed up with a free Valhalla DLC in 2023. However, neither Santa Monica Studio nor Sony have provided a launch timeline for the studio’s next project.
