*The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria*, a survival crafting game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth, is arriving on Steam and Xbox Series S/X later this month. Publisher North Beach Games announced that the game will launch on these new platforms on August 27. Alongside the release, the game will receive *The Golden Update*, which introduces crossplay support across all platforms, new content, bug fixes, and other improvements.

In a blog post, North Beach Games detailed the new features coming with *The Golden Update*. The game can now be wishlisted on Steam and the Xbox store, and will be available at a limited-time discounted price of $19.99 (regional pricing for India has yet to be announced) when it launches on August 27.

One of the key features of *The Golden Update* is the new Sandbox Mode, allowing players to freely explore Moria. This mode is non-linear and uses procedural generation to create unique layouts and challenges for each playthrough. Previously, the Sandbox Mode was available only in beta on the Epic Games Store version, but will now launch across all platforms.

The update also adds crossplay support, enabling players on PC (both Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series S/X to host and join multiplayer sessions. Additionally, *The Golden Update* introduces 14 new weapons and armor, as well as over 100 new building objects.

The game is also getting several quality-of-life improvements, including better building mechanics, the ability to pause in offline single-player mode, an ambient music soundtrack, advanced difficulty settings, and various bug fixes.

Developed by Free Range Games, *The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria* was initially released as an Epic Games Store exclusive for PC on October 24 last year, followed by a PS5 release on December 5.
