Microsoft recently confirmed that its highly anticipated exclusive, *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*, will be a timed-exclusive on Xbox. The action-adventure game will first launch on Xbox Series S/X, Game Pass, and PC in December, with a PlayStation 5 release following in early 2025. Bethesda announced this during Gamescom, and afterward, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer shared insights on the company’s approach to first-party games on rival platforms.

During an interview on the Xbox On YouTube channel with Xbox president Sarah Bond, Spencer addressed a question about *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* coming to PS5. He explained that Xbox is focused on expanding its game offerings and shared that earlier in the year, Microsoft launched four games—two on the Nintendo Switch and four on PlayStation—as part of an effort to learn and grow.

Spencer acknowledged that, while launching Xbox games on other platforms isn’t necessarily driven by business reasons, the company does need to operate responsibly and stay accountable to its parent company, Microsoft. He pointed out that Xbox’s player base has grown, and its franchises are stronger than ever, indicating that the strategy is working. Xbox continues to see growth across console, PC, and cloud platforms, reinforcing the company’s commitment to making its games as widely available as possible.

Although Spencer didn’t provide more details about why *Indiana Jones* will be available on PS5 or whether more Xbox exclusives will follow suit, there’s speculation that additional first-party Microsoft titles might become multi-platform. For instance, *Doom: The Dark Ages*, another Bethesda title announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, will be launching on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

Spencer also touched on the broader challenges facing the gaming industry, mentioning the pressure to continue growing in a sector that has expanded for years. He hinted at changes in how games are developed and distributed, noting that while these shifts are inevitable, the focus should always be on creating better games for more players.

He wrapped up by emphasizing that the well-being of Xbox and its games remains the top priority for Microsoft.

*Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*, developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda, will launch on December 9 for PC, Xbox Series S/X, and Game Pass. The PS5 release is slated for Spring 2025.
