*Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* is set to launch on previous-generation consoles this September. Originally released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X in 2023, the action-adventure game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One starting September 17, as announced by publisher Electronic Arts. Pre-orders for the PS4 and Xbox One versions are now live, and the game will feature optimized visuals to ensure smooth performance on older hardware. At launch, *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* faced notable performance issues on PC and current-gen consoles.
Developer Respawn Entertainment confirmed the release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, along with pre-order bonuses that include free in-game cosmetics. The developer emphasized that the old-gen versions have been optimized to make the most of the available hardware, addressing performance concerns that plagued the game when it initially launched on newer platforms.
When the game first came out, Respawn had to apologize for the technical issues, particularly on PC, and later released several updates to improve the game across all platforms.
In addition to the old-gen launch announcement, Respawn also revealed that a new patch for the PC version would be coming in the next few weeks. This update aims to enhance the game’s performance, controls, and provide quality-of-life improvements.
EA initially confirmed plans to release *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* for PS4 and Xbox One during an earnings call in August last year, when the old-gen version was still in early development.
First released on April 28, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* is a direct sequel to 2019’s *Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order*. The game follows Jedi Knight Cal Kestis as he continues his fight against the Empire.
