In Apple Reminders, you can now customize your smart lists in the top section of the sidebar, giving you control over what you see from five possible options. Back in iPadOS 13, there were only four fixed options, but with iPadOS 14, Apple has added a new tab for tasks assigned to you. This feature lets you assign tasks to others, who will receive reminders, and similarly, you’ll get reminders when someone assigns tasks to you.

Apple has also introduced the ability to use emojis for your list icons. The sixty icons available in iPadOS 13 were limited and not very intuitive, so this change is a welcome refresh.

They’ve streamlined the icons by removing the “Remind me” text, leaving just the icons themselves. They also renamed “Flagged” to “Flag.” Now, when you flag a task, it appears under your flagged tasks. While not a major update, it’s a small detail that simplifies the interface.

Time now has its own independent icon, making it easier to set reminders for the day without needing to go through the date picker. Additionally, Apple has replaced the scrolling date picker with a calendar date picker, which looks and functions better. If you prefer the old style, you can still use scrolling for months and years.

Swiping left on a task now reveals more details, allowing you to quickly access information without relying solely on the info icon. This gesture previously only allowed you to flag or delete tasks, so this added functionality is a nice improvement.

iPadOS 14 also enhances how you can manage multiple tasks in Apple Reminders. Now, you can take bulk actions more easily. However, Apple Reminders still lacks a way to show deleted tasks, so a recycle bin would be a valuable addition in future updates.
